This online register contains the list of all registered Slovenian tourist guides who have passed the state examination or a test of knowledge at the Tourism and Hospitality Chamber of Slovenia in accordance with Article 35 of the Promotion of Tourism Development Act, Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia (Uradni list RS), No. 13/2018.
Article 36 of the Promotion of Tourism Development Act imposes on all tourist guides an obligation to renew their registration each year by 31 January of the current year by submitting data on the number of days they spent guiding and the countries they guided for the previous year. Consequently, this means that the data on persons who failed to meet their obligation in the current year are no longer available and removed from the online register after February 1. Such persons may have abandoned the profession or their work in violation of the legislation.
Tourist guides carry a tourist-guide licence card as proof that they have passed the examination; while performing their tasks, the card is to be displayed in a prominent place. The licence card is issued in the person’s name, bearing their photograph for the identification, a registration number, and a sticker displaying the current year, which certifies that a tourist guide has renewed their annual registration and is still registered to pursue their profession. The licence card is entirely green, plastic and bilingual, in Slovenian and English, showing the logo of the competent Ministry for Economic Development and Technology and the Tourism and Hospitality Chamber of Slovenia.
With respect to individual tourist guides, contact data (e-mail and phone numbers) are available subject to their written consent to the publication of their personal data. Data on education are only published if an individual has provided evidence of the completion of their education. Please note that the data published on the foreign language proficiency, countries of tourist guides and the number of days of guiding in the previous year are the responsibility borne by individuals alone since no proof is required for such data.
